q   Summarize intent of the review.  This would include:

o       To identify performance strengths and areas of concern;

o       To indicate that the majority of what is learned from the review is intended for developmental use;

o       To note that the review is one important factor used in making reappointment decisions.

q   Define committee membership.

q   Review timeline.

q   Articulate committee’s role: gather, analyze and summarize assessment information and prepare and submit report to VCSA. Clarify that the committee’s role is not to make a recommendation on reappointment.

q   Share information regarding announcement of the review.

q   Discuss in general terms from whom input should be solicited (i.e., faculty, staff, community members, etc.).

q   Remind the committee that all information gathered in this process is to be held confidential.

q   Assign any particular tasks to be done prior to the next meeting of the committee.

q   Provide an opportunity for clarification and questions regarding the responsibilities of the committee and the resources available to carry out the charge.
