3. If you could start your undergraduate work over again, would you attend UMC?

4. Please explain why or why not?

A. For those responding “Probably Yes” or “Definitely Yes”

• Attending UMC allowed me to achieve my educational goals and recieve a worthy degree without having to be at a large campus.

 • nice people here, and it is a smaller campus with lots of opportunities!

 • I think it is a great school with a small-school atomosphere.  For what I want to do in the future, this is a good place to accomplish my goals.

 • UMC really doesn't have the capabilities for me to exceed in  an undergraduate work for my field

 • I recieved a very good education. UMC is always willing to help their students. If there is a problem they will bend over backwards to help out the student.

 • the good programs, and the friendly atmosphere

 • I would choose UMC because it is small and I just really like being here. My only complaint would be this semester I have a teacher who really knows his stuff but doesn't know how to teach it. That is frustrating.

 • I believe UMC is place where one can feel at home.  Your contributions and time are noticed and you can see your accomplishments.  The faculty/staff and students are very friendly around here.  I really like having a small ratio of students to professors.  At times, I think the teacher are not real demanding, but in reality, they are because I always have tons of work for me to do, especially in my major.  I believe the %@*!#*^&  Department has some very strong professors would definitely know there information and expect their students to do good in their class.  They give lots of work, which is overwhelming, but we are here to study and I think that is great.  Having laptop computers on campus makes a person feel more at home because it is easier to stay in touch with friends and family.  I believe less people would get homesick and their ability to adjust to college life is greater.  And of course, they are a good way to meet new people on campus.

 • I really like the size of UMC. I'm not a number and I know who my teachers are, unlike some really large schools.  Everyone here is very friendly and are willing to help. My overall feeling here is really good.  I'm happy here.

 • I would because I like the small classes and the fact that the teachers get to know you by name and face. the teachers do there best to make you comfortable.

 • I have had nothing but positive results in all aspects, from arranging a compatible class schedule, to prompt answers about financial aid, to instructors who actually seem to care about individual student success.

 • I really believe UMC is great college, especially for my area of study. I like the one on one attention you get in classes. Also I have gotten to know my professors on a more personal level. I like being treated like a person, and not a number in class. I think the relationships we have with our professors is very important.

 • I would because I like the smaller campus and having the computers. The only thing is that it is a little far from my hometown.

 • The smaller class sizes and one-on-one teaching was my kind of learning style.  I have been very disappointed with some of my %@*!#*^& teachers.  I found some of the staff to be very fast to push people aside if they were not "active" in class and concentrating on a few select students day after day.  If a student is going to class everyday and not doing GREAT in a class I think it is the job of the teacher to find out if the student needs help instead of just letting them fall further and further behind.

 • The small campus and the availability of my major here

 • I am a horticulture student, Roger Wagner being the head of the area. He himself would definately make me want to go down the same path. Also instructors like %@*!#*^&  would bring me to UMC. However, instructors like %@*!#*^&  would make me want to avoid UMC like the plague. This it would be tough to decide. UMC needs to look at is faculty and staff and decide who are good instructors to build a base from. And who are those who need to be eliminated or replaced. I know I am not alone with my opinion

 • everyone is very friendly and easy to get alone with

 • I enjoy the small class sizes and the small campus size. I really enjoy my professors. My major is very interesting and I think UMC does an excellent job of educating their students within this major.

 • This is a nice small campus. If you need to talk to a professor or teacher, it is easier than a larger college. I also like the small class sizes, you get noticed.

 • I would probably attend UMC again because the staff including the teachers are very informational and helpful.  Most of all I like the size of the school, I can get a big education without a large amount of people in the classes. More one on one with my teachers is what I like best.

 • I'm very pleased with the overall eduation and most of the instructors. UMC is convenient for me to attend. I'm also very proud of our college!

 • if I wouldn't it would be because of the cost of tuition

 • UMC is a great place to get a jump-start on your college education. Courses usually transfer well and scholarships for incoming freshman are excellent. I would definitely start my undergraduate work all over again at University of Minnesota, Crookston no matter what my major may be.

 • UMC is an expanding system with an eye toward quality programs with an interest in students.  It meets a need in northern Minnesota and I feel they will compete with any school in the region and will only continue to move forward.

 • I would because it is small and the teachers actually care about how you do.

 • The atomsphere here at UMC is a warm and inviting one.

 • The computers and size of classes is an excellent factor in the education here.

 • UMC is a unique educational facility in that classes are generally small, students and facilty/staff get to know one another and its almost like a family atmosphere.........I love it and would DEFINITLY come back if I could.

 • Very good experiences here and friendly atmosphere.  Not a large school, very personal feel here.

 • i would if i could be in a first year experience program again.

 • UMC is a very friendly and caring atmosphere to be in.  Whether it be talking to students or asking for assistance from teachers, someone is always there to help out!

 • I really like the school, it has a small town feel to it.  I am a student of the Twin Cities campus and you feel more to home here.

 • UMC was a great experience for me. I enjoy the instructors and the students. I learned an exceptional amount here, not just in classes, but in my life as well and will use it the rest of my days.

 • My entire experience here has been excellent.  I have enjoyed my education, extra curricular activities, the people and environment of the campus, and the use of technology in everything I have done.

 • The laptop computers are so important to everyone on campus.  Its a small school, but not too small. Cost is very reasonable for anyone wanting to attend.

 • It's not UND: smaller schools are easier for me to cope with. Very nice "technology" philosohy, which is a major selling point with me.

 • Overall, my experience at UMC was a good one.  It is very easy to get involved in extra-cirricular actvities and the class sizes are small enough that professors are able to know all their students names and faces.  That is something you definitely don't get at a bigger university.

 • I don't have many options--UMC has the best %@*!#*^& Program in the US, as far as I'm concerned.

 • because its the best %@*!#*^& program in the region

 • If I did start over I definitely would have changed my major because the professors in my major are not good.

 • I've really enjoyed the connections I've made here, as well as having professors/faculty actually know my name.  I'm not a number here, I'm a person with dreams and goals - the staff at UMC really cares about those dreams/goals and does their best to see you achieve.

 • I like all of the people I have met here.  I am also very pleased w/ my teaches in the %@*!#*^&  program.  I think that Crookton needs to focus a little more on better %@*!#*^& and also to promote more school spirit.  Maybe work with the community more.

 • I love the people here, they are all so nice, and it is a nice environment.

 • I like the small class sizes and the faculty is readily available to help students. Faculty and staff are very friendly, it is a good atmosphere for learning too.

 • UMC has what I am looking for as a career, that is the #1 reason I would choose it again, and the second reason is that the teachers know your name, they don't just treat you like another number.

 • I'm an %@*!#*^& major and UMC has the closest program to my hometown, but it is a very good program.

 • In my case it is close to home and all my friends. Also, the education quality and the technological aspects are very good.

 • I like the people, computers, and area of UMC.

 • I like the technology here.

 • UMC has the major I'm looking for.  The fact that most things are done electronically makes things much easier as well.  I just like this school and how things are.

 • I have been very satisfied with the Faculty. They are very helpful. Also as a Freshman I felt orientation was a sucess for me becasue I could locate all offices and room with ease. My freshman year would have been much less enjoyable had I not been familiar with th campus.

 • I like the small class rooms, it lets the instructor get to the know the student by name.  Its very helpful having a computer and access to the internet 24/7.

 • I have had a good start here.  There were many opportunities presented to me that I wasn't even aware were offered here.

 • I like it here so far!

 • The programs have all what we need for job market

 • If starting over in the same degree program, I would choose UMC.  If in my other interest, %@*!#*^&, I would most certainly attend UW-Madison, they have a much greater %@*!#*^& department.

 • I had a good expirence with this school and I would come back and do it again.

 • UMC is a nice size school to start out at, it's close to home and everything has been a great experience for me so far.

 • The instructors are flexible to work with you when you have been sick and I like the smaller class and campus sizes. I'm 43 and it's nice to be able to live at home and still attend college.

 • I absolutely love it here...the other students and faculty are all extremely nice and helpful with any questions/concerns.

 • I would attend UMC again because of the atmosphere. The professors are personal and work directly with you. Something you won't get at bigger universities....Your not just another face, your a person here. Also I got to know a lot of people here. Last UMC had my major and obviously the University of Minnesota has a great tradition so UMC being a branch is a great thing.

• It is a nice campus and environment the teachers are friendly for the most part....like everywhere some are really good and some are terrible.

 • Being an %@*!#*^& major and having to take so many ITV classes would steer me away from attending UMC again, however, all of the experiences I had, people I met, and the small community atmosphere that is present here at UMC would make me definately chose to attend UMC again regardless of the ITV courses.

 • I live in Crookston and am very thankful this university offered the major I wanted and made it easier for me to continue my education.

 • Hometown, love the notebook computers.

 • I would attend, I would just take the classes that were worth while and say to hell with the rest.

 • Because I enjoy the size of the campus and I think it's perfect for me. The teachers are all really nice people (for the most part) and the classes are good.

 • The sole reason I came here was to complete my %@*!#*^& degree.  If I had to start over again, I would doulbe major in business or turf management also.  I came to take %@*!#*^& because I heard good things about the %@*!#*^& proram here and I have found that the %@*!#*^& industry respects students who graduate with a %@*!#*^&. degree from UMC.  It gives me a good reputation to graduate from here.

 • Instruction material here covers important information.  I feel I'm learning enough to be adequately ready for employment after I receive my degree.  Academic programs are pretty well designed and include all aspects of a career in today's world.

 • I have enjoyed my time at UMC.  I like the individual attention and you receive.

 • I like the location and you have the major I want.

 • It just makes me feel at home. Everyone is so friendly, and even though it is a University it is still nice and small here, easy to get around.

 • I would probably attend UMC again because of the accessability of technology here at UMC that most other school's don't offer.

 • The UMC campus provides a nice small atmosphere where I find my self to be able to take advantage of everything UMC has to offer.  The only reason I would not go back to UMC is how small the community out side of UMC is.

 • It is a small campus with a faculty that is responsive to student concerns.  The classes that are offered here are very good, but I would like to see a little more hands on in the animal part of it.  Maybe add some more agricultural marketing classes.  Also some meats classes so future farmers can see the outputs of what they are feeding.  Everyone seems nice to you as you are walking around.  It is almost like an extended family.

 • Good administration, advisory and instructor support.

 • I've gotten to like it here a lot.  I like the students and teachers, and the environment of the campus.

 • Becuase I think that UMC is an excellent school! I think the faculty and staff care about students; they have always been willing to help me with any questions or concerns that I had!

 • The only drawback I see is the distance from my hometown (6 hours away) and the hard time I've had finding a part time job nearby.

 • I like having personal computers and I like the size of the community and that everyone on campus is so friendly.

 • I think UMC is allowing me to have a great college experience. Being small enough to allow one on one attention with my classes.

 • It is a good school and the faculty and staff are very friendly and helpful.

 • Circumstances have changed so it is difficult to predict what I would do now.

 • Because of the opportunities that umc as a community with in a school offers.

 • I love the small class sizes and the way everyone knows each other. I love the fact that my teachers know me, and care about how i do in my classes. It feels very family like at UMC.

 • good school

 • Giving out full ride tuition scholarships is a reason for anyone to come here.

 • Small class sizes and approachable faculty make for a good learing environment. Coming here from a school of nearly 17K students was a big shock, but a move towards a better education.

 • I have had a lot of fun.

 • I love UMC, mostly for the small size, the fact that it is easy to many people and staff members with out feel like I fell in a crack.  I find the staff very supportive and encouraging

 • UMC has some definite advantages over other schools but it needs a little more flexibility in courses and emphasis areas.

 • I like it a lot here at UMC, it is a nice small school and everyone is nice.

 • Location is very important because I live in Crookston and work here also.  Teachers are good and the college is also good.

 • Even though I don't feel the academic side of things are as strong as they should be, the computer experience I have gained while attending UMC in invaluable.

 • I feel the university has met or exceeded all of my expectations thus far. I am very happy here.

 • I like the "small" camous setting.  The classes are not overly large and you can have easier interaction with the instructor.

 • Because its a very good school for my major and the technology is outstanding.

 • Because there is a lot if helpful people at UMC if you ask.

 • UMC is a great small university.  The college has a lot to offer.  Student activities, student envolvement, campus opportunities... are just a few great things that UMC is terriffic at.

 • I would because the level of education I fill I have recieve here is priceless. The priceless education is the result of the use of notebook computer and the instructors have a vast knowledge of the industry and share the dues and do not's to make it in the industry. their circulum is not just book but life lessions. priceless

 • I like the size of the school, cost of attending, the technology available, the variety of ways of taking classes (classroom as well as distance education), and I have had good experiences with faculty and staff.

 • UMC is like my hometown, it is very much like a smalltown community.  I love the people here and the community, its a great experience.

 • It's a small school and the faculty and students are nice and helpful.

 • I would start here at UMC if I had chosen a different major, but the shoes I am in right now, I would have mixed emotions still, because I am a transfer student who could not have gained the experiences I have without going elsewhere as well.

 • Laptops are awesome! %@*!#*^& program is great!

 • I just found out that I will need to attend for 4 more semesters instead of 3.  Not a huge difference (yet it is).  If I had known that it would be so difficult to schedule in all the classes I need to take, I might have considered another university more seriously.  So many of the classes (the majority of them)that I need to take are offered only in the fall or the spring, and I have run into numerous scheduling conflicts as there is usually only one section offered per semester.  Ideally we should all follow the laid out 4 year or 2 year program, but I am a transfer student, who wants a quality education, but I would really like to pile on the credits and really get this done.  I know of other students who, in their last year, are unable to fit in a class they need.  So are they supposed to return to take one single class??

 • UMC is one of the only schools in the state with a 4 year turfgrass program.

 • The small class sizes and friendliness and concern of instructors have been a huge help in my academic success.

 • I think that the small student to teacher ratio is a major plus, and I enjoy the smaller campus.

 • The teachers here are very good.  I have learned a lot of new things.

 • This is a vary nice colege with professional staff members

 • The on-line courses option has helped me balance work/school.

 • well, this is my first semester here at UMC, so I don't really have a good answer.

 • Because I have had a great experience thus far.

 • When I started out this university it was still changing and was very boring. It has greatly improved since I have been here but there are many things that need to still be improved.

 • It's a small school and the faculty and students are nice and helpful.

 • The campus is friendly, and a good learning environment

 • I would probably decide to attend UMC because I would have definetely gone PSEO at UMC and would have found that I enjoyed a major that was offered at UMC.  There is no point in going out of town and moving away if you can get what you want in your hometown.

B. (For those responding “Definitely Not”, “Probably Not”, or “Not Sure”

• may have gone to a bigger school where there was more a focus on athletics

 • Town and College Community do not really mesh with one another it is like they are two separate worlds.

 • I would look at a different program and probably offer UND because of what the campus and city offers compared to UMC

 • i've seen way too much stupidity inflicted on the student body by the admin. folks in my %@*!#*^& courses out of THREE YEARS WORTH OF COURSES I HAVE HAD ONE (1) ACTUAL ON CAMPUS INSTRUCTOR!!!!  This situation is simply unaccaptable that anytime I need to talk to the prof, outside of class I have to drive 3 hours (at my own expense), or make a long distance call (agian at my own expense)! When situation demands i must talk to these people WHY should I have to spend at least 4 hours on the road (3 hours) and hunting (at least 1 hour) them down at BSU?  WHY isn't there a commo net set up?  WHY wasn't this addressed 3 years ago when it became apparent? If this was going to be a problem WHY wasn't i informed of it when i was looking at UMC?  WHY after three years does the library still not have ANY %@*!#*^& text on hand? to date I have logged just under 5,000 miles going back and forth from BSU and about 19 hours on the phone (long distance!) and no one at the school has  so much as given me an explination why these problems weren't forseen and addressed -- this shows a total lack of either thought or caring about the student

 • Because I really do not think that I will have an edge over other graduates in my area of study.

 • Things have not worked out as planned.   %@*!#*^&

 • I was disappointed in the quality of instructers available on campus.  I had instructers %@*!#*^&, instructers that did not know the material they were trying to teach, and instructers that did not present themselves in a professional manner.  An example of this was instructers failing to show up to class and not notifying students that class would be canceled.  This occured during many classes not just one class over the four years I have attended UMC.  I feel that if I can do my job as a student and attend all the classes then the instructer should also attend all classes.  I also have a problem with the mismanagement that has occured in the %@*!#*^& departments at UMC.  There is a high number of %@*!#*^& due to mismanagement.  Including a %@*!#*^&.  The %@*!#*^& department uses %@*!#*^&.  I have a problem with the unethical %@*!#*^& that occurs regularly on this campus.  I have seen many cases of %@*!#*^& that when informed of the instructers ignore and do not address.  If I had known the things I know now about UMC I would never have spent my money here.

 • UMC does not have the exact major I'm interested in.  So to get what I truly want I have to double major, costing me more money, and taking me 2 years longer.

 • I would like to go to a school that is a lot bigger and in a larger city.

 • Undecided

 • I am more interested in the law and the UMC does not offer this as a major. I am currently majoring in ITM but only want to learn how to use computers not enter as a profession. The profession I am looking for is Judge. Thank you.

 • They have my major here but I don't like how you have to rent there computers and you can't bring your own. It costs the student body so much money that they don't have.

 • Because i came here with the intent of going into Equine Management and have since changed my major.  I think there are better colleges to attend for the degree i am looking for. My change wouldn't be the schools fault.

 • Its not all I thought it would be. Some classes are not at all challenging. In %@*!#*^& management, you have %@*!#*^& "teaching" the class. He is not even qualified! So I am not receiving the same quality as I would from say, %@*!#*^&.

 • I came to UMC for my bachelor's in %@*!#*^& back in 1999.  I am currently adding an associate's degree in marketing as well as a minor in STC because I feel I haven't learned enough in my field to be worthwhile in the workforce.  The %@*!#*^& degree seems to follow a similar path as %@*!#*^&, a field that I have no clue about. If I came to UMC all over again, I wouldn't enroll in the %@*!#*^& program.

 • The main reason is it location, which is nothing to do about. It also has to do with the %@*!#*^& department.

 • I dont think that I'm happy here not because of the school but due to the nature and surroundings.

 • My program, %@*!#*^&, has been plagued by bad instructors and extremely lightweight courses. I feel like I'm wasting my money and time here because I am not challenged. Many of the %@*!#*^& courses are practically like high-school courses. %@*!#*^& was pathetic. Only half of the students could actually %@*!#*^& decently.

 • Probably I would have started at a larger campus where I would got more people from my country, and more scholarships for ugrad students. Another reason is- UMC Intl' students do not get workstudies. Last but not the least- there is almost no public transport in Crk

 • It would depend on the area of study I would take

 • I was here for 5 semesters and the last sememster that I was here was the ONLY semester that my %@*!#*^& was not messed up by the school not because of actions on my part.  There response the computer system or they were still getting use to the computer system.  Also the variety of teachers for %@*!#*^& classes, there is none. Best example the troubles with the %@*!#*^&. teacher and the schools failure to try and solve the problem.  Also there are hardly any companies that are brought to UMC for %@*!#*^& majors.  I though that this was a great liablility towards those students.  The town of Crookston offers hardly anything for recreation.  I drove 4 hours to another town every weekend because I would rather do that than stay in Crookston.

 • I transfered to UMC becuase i was under the assumption that the teachers would be easy to get ahold of and easy to talk to, and i have found this to be very untrue. We pay way too much for these computers, especially with all the problems they have.  I have had 3 loaners this year andI treat my computer very well.

 • I guess why I don't know because maybe I would of thought of a different profession to go in after starting the one that I am in now

 • I really don't know at this time but I am still living in this area Yes, I will attend UMC.

• UMC is a good campus for its size.  I would just go somewhere else because i would have liked to attend a larger and more diverse campus.

 • The cost of attending the university would be the reason that I wouldn't come back.

 • Because the of the the lack of fundings being received to better the Animal Science & Equine Science Programs

 • The cost is too high.  The technology is not that great, the college can't even figure out how to use the computer to schedule classes so that they do not over lap.

 • I think some of the general education classes are a little silly...but I would probably attend UMC.

 • I like the fact that we are a laptop U & it is way cool having the internet ports pratically everywhere on campus. But I wish they had more variety in majors here it would sure be nice to have more options in four year degrees if I was choosing another undergraduate degree UMC might not even offer it yet.

 • Some professors are completely incompetent, i.e. %@*!#*^&. Almost every student who's ever had them has been dissatisfied, why doesn't the administration get a clue? Also, the way this institution kisses Microsoft's %@*!#*^& is completely beyond my comprehension!

 • What sells UMC for me and to remain here are the quality people here, the friends that I've made. Depending on your Major there seems to be some teachers that are TOO easy, and some that are out get students intentionally, but i guess that is the same where ever you are at.

 • College great, although, I would probably not stay in this area.  I came up here intially because of the agriculture programs, although, I switched to business management, and nothing involving agriculture.

 • There is not many options for classes

 • I think when you are a freshman you really don't know what you want, so I am not sure what I would do if I could start over again.  I would probably spend a little more time at looking into all my options.

 • Transferring credits from another school. It is difficult to get credits transferred over. I have to take classes over because the names are different between the two schools. I am not impressed at all. The Tech school I went to was a lot better.

 • I wish that UMC had more to offer.  I want a Japanese language class.  I also would like to see video and photography.

 • When I first attended UMC, I had different goals which would be fulfilled here. However, I have changed my major, and would like a faster-pace atmosphere and a harder challenge.

 • My number one reason is the cost. When you look at other public universities, they are much cheaper. Granted you are getting a laptop computer. That was one of the main reasons for coming here. However in class, very few kids use them for class activities. All they do is chat on messenger services! This is very distracting. I do like how well the teachers interact with the students, my instructors know me by my first name. This is not very common at other universities. I guess the cost is my biggest concern. I know you are paying for the "U of M" name but I don't get financial aid, assistance, or grants (I have applied for scholarships, but get declined as I have not applied for financial aid, which i don't qualify for.) So $11,000 for a year of college at a public university is a bit much don't you think? I'm sure I'll be here all four years as the University of Minnesota system doesn't allow many credits to transfer with other schools, other than their own. All in all! I like UMC but I don't like the cost.

 • If I was sure that Equine was what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing, then yes, I would have come here. My problem is that I am not interested in the %@*!#*^& program anylonger.  I don't know what I want to do with my life and there are alot of other schools in existance that offer all of the programs I want plus alot more.

 • I like being able to have such small classes and be able to work more one-on-one.  But it would also be a good idea when going through some of th classes to have more hands learning experiences to learn from.

 • It seems to me that the focus at UMC is on Agriculture, one example of this is there are several companies a semester looking for agriculture students, but the only companies that non agriculture students may see are Valley fair, and some camp.  this seems unfair to other students

 • I wish UMC offered more programs.  I love my teachers and my classes, but I can't get my first choice for a degree.

 • I'm not sure if I really like this campus

 • It took me longer than expected to graduate, because advisor told me I would be done, but ended up having to take more classes.

 • cost

 • When I started taking classes, UMC was an open enrollment college.  I felt that this was a detriment to my education because I don't think the faculty could teach to the level that should have been.  However, I am pleased that there is no longer open enrollment, that there are standards required.

PART FIVE. COMMENTS AND DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

10. Please enter any comments about your experiences at UMC.

• I would hope to see, as an alumni, more effort and resources going toward UMC's athletics. I believe/know the key to bring more students to UMC is by athletic recruiting and developement. I know times are tough for UMC and the U of M in general. But UMC needs to look at what areas it can improve in so that UMC goes and becomes a better place for its students. I believe athletics is just what is needed. Develope athletics, build school unity, get students going to events. This is what UMC needs.  thank you

 • I feel that the career placement aspect for the %@*!#*^& program is very poor compared to other majors.  I recieve e-mails all of the time about companies being on campus to interview students in agriculture related programs, but have NEVER seen any recruitment done for students in the %@*!#*^& program.  The jobs in the %@*!#*^& field are plentiful and I feel that UMC doesn't do enough to do career placement for %@*!#*^& students.  We are "left out in the cold" and have to find jobs and interviews on our own.  I hope that in the future this will change for future %@*!#*^& students.  I understand that UMC has mostly agriculture related programs offered, but I think the %@*!#*^& major is forgotten about and there is no recruitment done for interview opportunities at all.

 • very good overall

 • There are some people in the %@*!#*^& office with bad attitudes they don't make it a very pleseant visit.

 • Very postive. I have really enjoyed getting acquainted with the students as well as the instructors. The students are polite, friendly, outgoing and very concerned.

 • I feel that %@*!#*^&, has been more helpful to me than any other faculty member. Most of the faculty is very helpful and concerned about your individual well being. Which is one of the reasons I enjoy UMC and have a positive image of it.

 • In the advising aspect of my academic experience, I was kind of shuffled around through different advisors, mostly because of the program managers changing.  I think I probably speak on behalf of a lot of the %@*!#*^& majors when I say this.  I realize that the program has had a considerable turnover in professors since I have been here, but I hope that it will start being more stable.

 • I have enjoyed my experiences so far. I look forward to more experiences through UMC.

 • I have had mostly good experiences here at UMC and hope to continue to have those good experiences throughout my years here.

 • %@*!#*^& is my advisor and has helped me a lot throughout this year. In fact all of the faculty in the Natural Resources Department have been very nice and responsive to the needs of the students in all of the classes that I have in that department. The %@*!#*^& courses are terrible, the teachers don't know their stuff when it comes to %@*!#*^& and have very poor teaching styles ( in general ) OVerall I am enjoying my enrollment here at UMC, mainly because of all the interesting activities in the Natural Resources dept. and the extra certifications that we can get through them.

 • It is a nice quit college and town.

 • We need to make UMC a place that students want to stay and go to activities on the weekends.

 • UMC is a great school but not completly ready to receive international students. Yes, you can get help whenever you need it. but the most important is international students need more experienced advisors that are more open to Diversity. And in general they need better "%@*!#*^& ". I Personally Lost a lot of money and lot of time when started and this because i had no one to help.

 • The Basball field needs some serious fixing. The outfield is very poor and the outfield fence is 6-8 inches off the ground. The bookstore has a terrible book buy back program. I bought all of my books for spring semester with the money I recieved from selling my fall semester books through the book buy back at Morsels. if i would have gone through the book store I would have had to pay $200 more.

 • I wish that the community was a little more accepting of the campus kids.

 • Friendly and helpful staff Clean and organized facility Wonderful technology Nice library area Many options for being involved if desired

 • I dont see why there is a need for all the "diversity" questions. There could have been atleast a not applicable spot.  I also feel that people who happen to have a more "diverse" background are offered more help than people like my self who just happen to be of European decent.  I feel that this is a great injustice to many many people, and often question its legality at all.

 • UMC has been very valuable in my life, but at times, quite trying.  Although I'll spend more than the originally planned 4 years at UMC, I am finding that everything I'll do here will benefit me in some way, and will hopefully be worth it!

 • This is my first time being back in school since I graduated in 1998 and it has been a great experience. I like college so far.

 • UMC really needs to start treating ALL sports here equally.  For instance, I understand the Women's IHSA team is a new NCAA sport, but it still lacks funding compared to other sports.  And there is NO reason why it cannot be a coed sport!  Be the first.

 • For a school this size, too much emphasis is placed upon funding sports.  We should be worried about our academic programs, and not spending so much on athletic facilites and students.    This survey seems to be quite interested in cultural diversity.  I feel that diversity is good for the University, but I do not think that extra money should be spent to recruit or provide scholarships based upon ethnic background.  Let those students come based upon their academic performanc, not their ethnicity.  Tuesday Thursday classes should start every hour and 30 minutes, so less overlap happens.  For instance, start classes at 8am, 9:30 11, 12:30 2, and 3:30.  This would help limit the instances where classes start on the hour, while the class from the previous hour is not quite completed.

 • GREAT!!

 • People are very helpful at UMC

 • Has been a very positive learning experience, but also a very boring one.

 • I am enjoying my academic career here at UMC.  It has helped me grow not only academically but as a person as a whole.

 • I like UMC because it is run by progressive thinker, that inspires me.

 • My experience has been very good at UMC.  Also, just a comment, a different person than my advisor helps me with classes and academic planning.  I consider that person as my advisor.

 • I enjoy being a student at UMC.  I love all my classes and the instructors for my major are all wonderful.  They are very helpful when it comes to school concerns or personal issues.

 • Unique, memorable, and something I can take pride in.

 • One thing the use of off campus internet through UMC/Halstad Dial-Up. I did not know it was only 50 hrs per month veruses unlimited before. If we are being charged for the use of the computers why not let/continue to provide unlimited accesst to the internet for all students providing they are using it for research or some assignment for any of the classes being taken. Also I do like the fact that everything that is happening on campus or that involves the college is announced to everyone via internet.

 • I have been very disappointed with some of my %@*!#*^& teachers.  I found some of the staff to be very fast to push people aside if they were not "active" in class and concentrating on a few select students day after day.  If a student is going to class everyday and not doing GREAT in a class I think it is the job of the teacher to find out if the student needs help instead of just letting them fall further and further behind.

 • All of my experiences at UMC have been excellent, but i do believe that there are too many admistration expences.  I think that admistration expences are taking away valuable resources that could be used more properly by and for the students.

 • I am enrolled in the %@*!#*^& course.  The organization of this course seems to need improvement, especially for the students %@*!#*^&

 • Down under question number 17 you ask about academic majors, but there is no selection for Business Aviation. Since it falls under the business studies umbrella I made that selection.

 • very good.  only thing i would like to see is for morsels to lower there prices. way too high

 • I think I mentioned most of them above.  Um, I believe overall, UMC does a very good job with everything.

 • I am satisfied with the on campus appartments.  I have used tutoring services and have succeeded in classes due to the services.  UMC is a GREAT institution.

 • Well one thing that is really disgusting is why should be be allowed to smoke right outside of the school doors. That is so disgusting when us non-smokers have to walk through all that smoke just to get in and out of a building. I believe that second hand smoke is worse than actually smoking the cigarette?

 • Extremely pleased to this point with the overall UMC experience.

 • I would not recommend coming to UMC to anyone graduating from high school. There are very few activites to do in this town, and college and the teachers have gotten worse every year. My advisor hasn't helped me out at all, and when i requested a new one, i was told i couldn't.

 • The cost per credit at UMC is absolutely outrageous!

 • UMC is not improving any of its programs since I have come to school here.

 • I would like the school better if more people went here.

 • I have had many good experiences at UMC. For example, I was able to attend NACTA at Cal Poly in April. But I have also had many bad experiences. I have had some terrible instructors. One, for example, was NEVER around to answer questions. I sent emails and left voice messages and never once got a response. Another instructor was just plain lousy. Half the class, including me, complained and got nowhere so we dropped it. The last time I checked, drawing and coloring pictures was a kindergarten activity, not a college activity in a 3000 level class. I also do not ever want to live on campus again. The noise is riduculous; it is hard to study. I have also had some problems with the parking policies on this campus. I am also sick of every high school activity taking place on this campus. It is hard to get to class with a group of high school students blocking the hall. Also, if UMC students have to pay for a parking pass, why should you come back to a lot that is full becau! se of a high school activity? Where are you supposed to park? This isn't fair; we paid for those spots, there should never be a time in which we don't have priority access to those spots.

 • Its a wonderful college. I wouldn't have wanted to get my education anywhere else.

 • UMC has a great atmosphere to it...faculty always seem willing to help you individually and truly seem concerned about your success.

 • I think that UMC is a good college. Very into computers which is good and also small so you can get help if you need it

 • I've enjoyed attending UMC. I've enjoyed my major and the professors teaching it.

 • UMC is a good place to start your education cause the classes are small andt the teachers are willing ot help you.

 • I would not have minded being more challenged by the courses here at UMC.  Some instructors were excellent at making me think critically and others were not so excellent.  Some courses here seem pretty laid back and the instructors do not demand excellence.  I would see nothing wrong with "raising the bar" in terms of academic expectations of the instructors.  Also, I think the computers are starting to have more of a negative effect on students due to the distractions they allow than they are a positive effect.  IF the instructors could have control over the use of the Internet in the classrooms, I think students would be required to pay more attention and desire to achieve higher academic marks.

• It has been a great learning experience, but it seems that the facutly in the ITM department get moved around so much and changes so often, that they don't have a chance to develop a solid teaching plan.

 • Some of the teachers seem really cold, but so far it has been okay

 • If the university really wants students to stay here, they need to hire professors who can actually teach, and not make the technology fee completely outrageous.

 • I love it here.

 • I am a distance student taking 1/2 credits or less while working full-time.  I have not been on campus much so I answered only the questions I thought applied to me.

 • I've enjoyed it here, and have recommended it to others looking into college.  The people I deal with here are friendly and easy to work with.  I feel comfortable being here and confident in the education I'm receiving here.

 • I've gained a network of friend or if you secound and I owe it all to the comfortable enviroment we have here at umc. Which not only allows you to grow mentally but as a person in  genral.

 • My experience at UMC has been positive.  Everyone on campus is nice and helpful.  There are a few “Good Old Boys” staff members that need to go because they are not into change and how students now days are like.  It is not just classes and education that make up a person.  Getting involved in different campus activities most definitely gives students the true college life.  I have had problems with advisors in the past but finally 2 years later the advisor I have now works when he has a chance to meet.  The administration staff is always there to help.  They work with students to get things done.  Overall UMC is a great place to go to school.

 • The class
