Entering Cohorts Retention and Graduation Rates”. |
| The
primary difference is in how the base cohort (first-time, full-time freshmen)
is defined. The UM report includes all entering students for the term coded
as NHS (new high school) who |
| are
full time and have a degree code of declared bachelors. For the same cohort
in IPEDS a "pure" new entering freshman is calculated by excluding
those with any post high school |

level credits and including students with a degree code of either declared
“bachelors” or “undecided”. |
